Add a little magic to your life by paying a visit to Iron Fairies. While the Bangkok nightlife scene is packed with interesting places to drink and dance the night away, Iron Fairies manages to offer something a bit different. The décor of this popular jazz and cocktail bar was created by Australian artist and designer Ashley Sutton, and is the perfect place to play and really let your imagination run wild. Iron Fairies was Mr. Sutton’s first bar and he has since designed a bunch of iconic venues around Bangkok, becoming a bit of a local celebrity for his genius. 

Stepping inside Iron Fairies is like entering a fantasy land with an imaginative back story that really puts visitors in the heart of the action. Ashley Sutton has written a series of stories where ore miners discover charming fairies, and the style of the venue follows this theme. Among the many decorative touches here are enormous rusty cogs, exposed pipes and vintage-style armchairs that are the perfect places to lounge while admiring the vials of fairy dust that decorate the walls. Tiny winged fairies can also be found scattered around the bar, helping to create the feeling that you are a visitor in an enchanted land. 

Professional mixologist Joseph Boroski can be found behind the bar at Iron Fairies creating tasty and imaginative cocktails that come complete with finishing touches such as blowtorched marshmallows. Drinkers will have plenty of opportunities to meet the green fairy when they indulge in special absinthe shots such as Absinthe Flying Potion and Absinthe Sour, while lovers of cool cocktails will find plenty to tickle their taste buds.



The venue also boasts an interesting entertainment programme to keep customers coming back for more. Toe tapping jazz standards are played by a live band every night from 21:00 and the lead singer helps create a magical mood as he croons into the mic. Mondays are open mic night, sponsored by Duvel beer. This is your time to shine as you take to the mic and wow the crowd with your dulcet tones fuelled by plenty of high alcohol volume beer.

Iron Fairies can be found on Thong Lo Soi 55, opposite Ton Krueng Thai Restaurant and just a short stroll from the Thong Lo BTS station. The bar is open from 18:00 to 02:00 from Monday to Saturday and visitors will want to make sure that they secure their seat before 20:00, as this imaginative venue is very popular with its elegant clientele.

TOT Recommends: The cocktail lists feature many intriguing inventions, our favorite being Smoke in the Bottle, which makes for a rather theatrical serving. The huge knife-impaled burger is a solid choice if you’re feeling peckish.
