Getting a suit made in Bangkok is a fantastic experience with these tailors.
Located in Nana at the quiet end of soi 8, Tailor on Ten is the brainchild of two Canadian brothers who spotted a gap in the market and created a boutique tailor shop in a renovated town house.
Alex and Ben’s interest in tailoring started at a young age, in fact they describe themselves as the best dressed kids in the playground, thanks to their mother who was a dressmaker. The brothers make an excellent team, both displaying an enthusiasm that is palpable, with skill sets that really compliment each other.
The person most likely to help with appointments is the elder brother, Ben.There’s no hard sell here, so if you’ve never experienced bespoke before, you’re in good hands. Ben takes the time to sit down and talk customers through what they want, whether it’s the James Bond look or a dapper Don Draper suit. Fitting rooms are private and the selection of fabrics is impressive, the list runs like a who’s who of the tailoring world: Thomas Mason, Holland and Sherry, Dormeuil, Loro Piana, Scabal, and others.
Most of the cutting and stitching is done in house, and you can spot the team hard at work as you walk up the stairs. Alex oversees this side of the business, from attending the trade fairs, working with suppliers and even sourcing machines that prevent buttons from falling off. He fizzes with excitement about what he does, checking live video feed from the small out of town workshop on his phone as we take a seat in one of the spacious private fitting room..."
