James came in with his fiancee to have the suit for his wedding made, a navy blue suit. The couple was very witty and fun and our conversation was great. This is most of it.

Hi James, Katrina. Thank you for agreeing to being featured in our Bespoken section. As usual, we will start from the basics. Where are you from and what do you do?

James: We are from the Philippines, but I grew up in the States, between Los Angeles and San Francisco. I studied Psychology, but right now I am in pharmaceutical distribution (the legal one). With Katrina we just moved to Bacolod in the Philippines.

Is this your first time in Bangkok?
James: Yes, it is for me, but Katrina had been here already.

How do you like the city? What have you been up to so far?
Katrina: We really enjoy Bangkok, this city is just great. We have been shopping and drinking a lot of craft beer, we don’t have as many independent brewers back in the Philippines.

James: I like the city too, and we have been to a couple of great places like Craft and House of Beers. I was impressed by the beer selection.

I was told that you are getting married soon, congratulations. When is the wedding?
Katrina: We are going to get married on the 9th of February.

How long have you been together?
Katrina: It has been more than two years, and we got engaged six months after we met. We will be celebrating our engagement anniversary in Japan, where we are also collecting the shoes for this beautiful suit.

You obviously like to travel, what are your favorite destinations?
Katrina: I love Las Vegas!

James: I prefer places like Phuket or Singapore. Singapore has been great. Maybe it is because I grew up close to Las Vegas, it was always an hour drive away.

James, how has it been settling back in the Philippines after living in the States for so long?
James: I thought it would be a lot harder, but I am finding it quite easy, especially because Katrina is with me and we have a business to run.

Let’s talk about your suit. What were you looking for when you came to visit us?
James: I was looking for a modern, slim fit, quite casual and not overly formal, since the wedding is being hosted in a garden. I went for a navy blue suit with a white striped shirt.

Back to the wedding. What have you got planned?
James: We want to do something very laid back in a garden, spend the day with some close friends and have fun.

Katrina: Yes, we want to get drunk!

Haha! What about your parents, are they happy about it? Aren't your parents expecting something a little more traditional?
Katrina: Maybe they are, but they cannot change it now, it is too late!

How did you guys meet?
Katrina: We met because of common family friends. It was almost like a force meeting, and at the beginning I didn’t want to go see James, but my aunt insisted, and here we are.

James: I didn’t want to go either, I had told my mum that I was going to cancel, but I am really happy I didn't, it was love at first sight!
