You looked incredible in your suit on your wedding day. How was it received?
Why, thank you very much! The suit, as you might expect, was incredibly well-received. It was a perfect look for our venue, it matched my wife's eyes, gave me some much needed confidence, and set the tone for what was a beautiful day and experience.
Tell us a little bit about where you're from originally.
I hail from Plymouth in the South West of the UK. It's a lovely part of the world just on the border of Cornwall where we held our wedding. Having lived in Asia (Taipei, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur and Yangon) for the last 16 years, it's always a pleasure to return home. The sea is a big draw for me and walking along the coast (rain or shine) when we are back to the UK on holiday is a highlight.
What do you do for a living and do you have to wear a suit every day?
I'm a teacher by trade and currently the Head of Primary at the British School Yangon. The dress code for gentlemen is a shirt and tie, although the suit only comes out for promotional, celebratory and whole school events such as Speech Days and Productions. Not being in the classroom gives me a better excuse to wear the suit and it always gets a reaction from the community!
Where do you live currently? What's it like?
We're currently living in Yangon, Myanmar, and have done for the last 4 years. As you can imagine, it has changed a great deal in that time. There are a lot more tourists (and expats) visiting the country and so much development in the city with new condos, restaurants, cafés, bars, cinemas, galleries and malls opening seemingly every day - I'd recommend opening a tailors ;) The people are the best thing about the city; everyone is so genuine and friendly, they really want to help and please. It is a very exciting time to be in the city and we feel very privileged to be a part of it.
What can you say about your Tailor On Ten bespoke experience?
Honestly, my TOT experience was extremely smooth, personal and actually a real treat. From the first welcoming handshake to the last fit and goodbye with suit bag in hand everyone was so attentive and I really felt that, although our wedding was almost 9 months away, the team was rooting for our success. The final cut was perfect and I would absolutely recommend a visit to TOT for your wedding (and other occasion) needs!
